Child Find Screening

Child Find is a continuous early intervention process that includes public awareness activities, screening, and evaluation designed to locate, identify, and refer young children with disabilities and their families who are in need of Early Intervention Program (Part C) or Preschool Special Education (Part B/619) services of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Child Find is a requirement by IDEA that school districts identify young children with disabilities. Any families who feel that their preschool child may need some early interventions and support may contact College Heights by calling 404-370-4480 to schedule their child for a preschool screening.

This information gained in the screening may lead to specific strategies in any developmental area.  These interventions can be implemented by private childcare center staff and/or parents and supported by College Heights preschool special education staff.  Children enrolled at College Heights will be supported by the school’s Student Support Model process.
